You probably know about the benefits of eating seaweed (I can never get used to the taste), but did you know that this water plant also makes for a nutrient dense body treatment? I never ate seaweed growing up, but most of the Asian population consume it regularly and use it in a number of inventive ways. And the benefits are massive.

What is Seaweed?

Seaweed is a plant that extracts vitamins and minerals from the sea. It is the oriental “secret” that thousands of beautiful women over the centuries have mastered to help them maintain an incredibly youthful appearance.

Luxurious spas around the globe have taken advantage of this oriental “secret” and use mineral-rich seaweed in many of their treatments. These luxurious establishments realize that seaweed is excellent not only for detoxing the skin, but it is a powerful skin rejuvenator.

Why sea vegetables?

Although sea veggies can look strange in appearance, they are loaded with life-sustaining minerals, and many varieties have been called the world’s most effective skin multivitamin because it consists of 15 of the 18 essential nutrients that make up our bodies.

Not only that, but they also provide vital nutrients such as iron, calcium, protein, sulfur, magnesium, sulfur, iodine, beta-carotene, bromine, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, selenium, and pectin (depending on the seaweed). It is also strongly alkalizing. Amazing!

My Beauty Secret

Today I want to reveal one of my favorite beauty secrets. It is a seaweed and honey face mask. Although this is an easy mask to whip up, it is a highly effective mask that your skin craves.

Since this mask also contains honey, this post wouldn’t be complete without at least mentioning some of the incredible benefits of honey. Just like seaweed, honey is also used around the globe as a proven beauty treatment for the skin. Why is honey so effective?

For one thing, honey is antibacterial and antifungal, and it has the ability to pull and attract water out of the air. What does this mean for your skin? Moisture, dewiness, and glowing skin.

So now that we’ve discussed some of the benefits of seaweed and honey, let’s create my easy peasy seaweed and honey face mask. This is actually a homemade seaweed, high potency vitamin for your skin, and you’re going to be blown away by the results.

One tablespoon raw honey

One tablespoon seaweed powder

One tablespoon aloe vera gel

Here’s what you do:
Mix the honey, aloe vera gel, and seaweed powder thoroughly and apply on a clean face. After 15 minutes, rinse it off and then use your favorite toner and moisturizer. How easy is that?

To get the consistency you want, simply add more aloe vera gel or even a little bit of water to make your mask spreadable but not too watery.

This mask can be used on other problem areas of the body. It is especially good for knees, elbows, and other rough places you want to exfoliate. Your skin will be left clarified and very moisturized.

Be careful to avoid the eye area. I use this mast at least weekly. This recipes makes one application, but if you do have any leftovers, store it in the refrigerator, and it should be usable for about a week.

You skin will love this mineral-rich cocktail!
